Race Report - Arjen Riemersma
We started the Watkins 6H from P2, right on the front row. The opening stints were clean and controlled, staying in touch with the leader while working through early traffic. Pace felt strong, and the car was balanced — exactly where we wanted to be for the long haul.
Midway through, everything changed. Coming into the last corner, there was contact involving the leader and us. In a heartbeat, our race went from fighting for the win to sitting stationary for 10 minutes of repair. In the world of sim racing, that’s an eternity, and the damage dropped us deep into the midfield.
From that point on, the race became about recovery. We fought through the pack, managing slightly compromised handling and focusing on consistency. Each overtake felt like a small win, gradually climbing back into the top ten as the laps counted down.
By the final lap, we were running in P6, chasing fifth place with nothing to lose. Exiting the Bus Stop, we got a great run and carried the momentum into the left-hander after the Bus Stop. Committing to the outside, we braked late, held the line, and made the move stick in the last few metres.
We crossed the line in P5. Not the result we’d been aiming for, but a strong recovery after a major setback — and a reminder that in endurance racing, persistence is everything.
