Race Report - Rian Cassidy

The N24, where to start. What a track, what an event. After many weeks of prep the day finally came, Connor who had great raw pace qualified, unfortunately we just couldn’t hook up the perfect lap and we started p30 but we weren’t worried though as we had a long 24 hours ahead of us.

After a strong first lap from Connor we seen ourselves up in p23. After lap 1 we all pretty much relaxed and settled in. The first 12 hours didn’t have much to talk about, everyone was safe, fast and consistent in all stints, until it wasn’t. In and around the half way mark as fatigue sets in mistakes can be super easy to make as Connor would find out, just touching the grass at Schwedenkreuz on turn in unsettled the car and the GT3 tires behaved before the update we all know any big slide was unsaveable, thankfully the gravel slowed the car down a lot and the damage wasn’t too race ending and Connor could bring it back to the pit.

I jumped in and unfortunately had to take 4 minutes worth of repairs and we came back out in p25, I managed to climb up to p19 by the end of my stint and that was me finished for the night and I left the car for the guys to power through the night.

Milo and Jonas on no sleep did indeed power through the night. With about 6.5 hours left they got back up to p14, but then the rain hit with around 5 hours to go with Jonas in the car while being awake for well over 24 hours at this point unfortunately just dipped a tire into a puddle and into the barrier we went. Around 8 minutes of repairs and a toe Jonas came back out in p21 and 3 laps down, he brushed off the mistake and drove a great stint.

The last 4 hours were pretty much the same as the first 12, strong consistent stints from all Me, Milo, Connor, and Jonas.

After a long 24 hours we finally crossed the start/finish line for the final time coming home in p20, 10 positions up from were we started, a nice moment was shared with a few donuts at the end.

I couldn’t ask for a better group and team to do it with, to even finish a 24 hour race around the hardest track in the world is an achievement in itself. Let alone be in the positions we were and showed the pace and overall consistency we all had.

A long, tiring and stressful 24 hours but it was all worth it as we crossed the line.
