Race Report - Adam Altawil
The Road America 6 Hours was my first endurance race with Team EnduroTech, and it was a really cool experience. It was my first time doing a race this long, so I learned a lot about consistency, strategy, and working together as a team.
Our goal going into the event was to fight for a strong top five finish in Split 3. Unfortunately, qualifying didn’t go as planned because I invalidated my second lap, which meant we started the race from 16th position.
During the race, I felt really comfortable in the Mercedes amg gt3 but we hesitated about the Ferrari 296 as top 3 had it but we choose consistency over raw pace.
My stints went well, and I was able to keep a consistent pace throughout. I felt like I had the pace to run around the top three, which gave me a lot of confidence. We had two unlucky incidents during the race with LMP2 cars, which cost us some time and positions. Even though that made the race harder, we kept pushing and the team did a great job. Our pit stops were especially strong, and we gained around two positions every time we stopped. In the end, we finished 17th, which wasn’t the result we were hoping for, but there were many positives to take from the race.
I gained a lot of experience from my first endurance event and I’m really happy to have been able to compete with Team EnduroTech.
A big thank you to the whole team for the support and all the work behind the scenes. I’m looking forward to the next races and hopefully fighting for even better results.
