Race Report Ondrej Matějíček
Majors 24, the iRacing version of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Successfully finished in the beautiful white version of the Ferrari 499P.
The race went a lot better than expected. We started off easy, knowing well it's a long race with safety cars implemented, meaning consistency mattered more than outright pace.
We got off to a strong start and worked our way to the front, where we stayed for most of the race. We even led for 17 laps throughout the 24 hours. No major incidents slowed our progress, which in events like these is absolutely necessary.
The real breaking point came after the final safety car pulled in. That meant there was no room for error anymore. Unfortunately, that did not play into our cards at all, as almost immediately on lap 2 after the restart we got spun at Indianapolis after being caught in an incident we simply couldn't avoid. The car on the inside missed the braking point and went wide by just a tiny bit, costing us a crucial 25 seconds when counting recovery time and damage altogether.
After that, nothing major happened, and after a long 86,400 seconds of racing around the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe, Team EnduroTech car #15 took the checkered flag in still an amazing P7 in a 21-car field, just 30 seconds off the leader.
Race to remember.
