The iRacing Daytona 24h was raced on the 17th of January, where Team EnduroTech 23 showed some seriously impressive stuff. After a solid amount of practice, we felt ready to fight for a strong result.
Qualifying didn’t go to plan. I struggled to find the right balance in the car, and as a result the Endurotech boys had to settle for a disappointing P23 on the grid. Still, everyone knew this was a 24-hour race and that anything could happen.
I got an incredible start. Within just five corners, I had already climbed up to P19. Unfortunately, bad luck struck early. On lap seven, a GTP tried to get past as quickly as possible, locked his tyres, and collided with us. Thankfully, the damage was limited to just one minute of repairs, thank God.
After that setback, the team focused on recovery. We kept gaining positions and overtaking cars, and by hour 12 of 24 we were running in P18.
During the night, Johannes and Maciej did a great job keeping the car clean and out of the barriers, while others around us were crashing or running into trouble. Their consistency really paid off. By the early morning hours, Team Endurotech had climbed all the way up to P9, matching the pace of the leaders.
After Johannes’ mega four-hour stint, I got back into the car. I put in a solid stint and by the time I stepped out, Team Endurotech had moved up to P7.
In the final hours, we continued pushing hard, catching cars ahead and fighting for even better positions. At the finish line, we secured a mega P5, just three seconds behind P4, an incredible result after everything we went through.
