Race Report - Jay Black

The iRacing Indy 6 Hours is done and what a rollercoaster it turned out to be! Starting 11th out of 13, we knew we’d need patience, clean driving, and maybe a bit of luck to get anywhere near the sharp end of the field. The opening stint was a real challenge – the race got underway in the wet with almost no grip on track.

Ondra jumped in for the start and did an incredible job keeping the car out of trouble while others around us were sliding off and making mistakes. Slowly but surely, he moved us forward, picking up spots and giving us a solid platform for the rest of the race. As the rain eased and the line began to dry, the big question was when to switch to slicks. We made the call at just the right time, and it paid off. From then on, it became all about consistency and keeping the car clean.

Every stint, we managed the traffic well, avoided drama, and just kept hitting our marks. By the halfway stage, we’d gone from fighting near the back to looking at a real shot at the podium. The second half of the race was about staying calm under pressure, managing pace, and making sure strategy calls were on point. In the final hours, we pushed hard, and after six hours of tough racing, we crossed the line in an incredible 2nd place. To go from P11 to P2 in conditions that changed so much from start to finish is something we’re really proud of.

Huge credit to Ondra for his stints and teamwork – couldn’t have asked for a better drive alongside me.
